WEST HAVEN, Conn. - First-year Kate Parker (Quispamsis, New Brunswick/Kennebecasis Valley) won twice, junior CJ Davidson (Canyon Lake, Calif./Vista Murrieta) broke a seventh-inning tie in game two with a two-run single, and the Saint Michael's College softball team clinched a postseason spot by sweeping the University of New Haven, 5-0 and 5-2, during a Northeast-10 Conference twinbill on Friday at the New Haven Softball Field.

  • New Haven packed the bases with no one out in the second, but Davidson kept the hosts off the board thanks to two grounders and a popup.
  • Krogman's two-out, two-run single up the middle tied the game in the fourth inning.
  • The Chargers left the go-ahead run at second base in the fifth.
  • In the sixth, Parker inherited a two-out, bases-loaded situation but got her only batter that inning to pop out.
  • With two out and no one on in the top of the seventh, Parker, batting for only the third time all season, was hit by a pitch, sparking a rally. Edgerly singled before both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch, and Davidson singled to right center to score both. Devens followed with a drive off the fence in right center that missed leaving the park by a couple feet, with the double bringing Davidson home with an insurance run.
  • Parker retired the Chargers in order in the home half.
