- The teams met for the first time.
THE ACTION
- Neither team led by more than two points in the opening set until Nunez-Rivera's kill made it 10-7, and she added another to push the lead to 18-12. Mediate's ace cut the gap to 24-22, but an error provided the Wildcats the clinching point.
- Nunez-Rivera's kill and pair of aces sparked Wilmington to starting the second set up 6-0 before Mediate dropped three aces to key a furious 9-2 rally that put her team in front. Miller's two aces came amid a five-point run for the visitors that put them up 14-10 before a 5-1 stretch later provided the hosts a 21-18 lead. Wilmington countered with the next five points, and the hosts got as close as 24-23 before Nunez-Rivera contributed a winning kill.
- Saint Michael's wiped out a 7-2 deficit in set No. 3 when Almeida's kill tied the teams at 12, but Schneider's back-to-back kills kicked off a 3-0 run, and the visitors never again led by fewer than two points.
