Women's Volleyball Begins Road Weekend with Setback at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College women's volleyball team opened a road weekend with a 3-0 loss (25-18, 25-22, 25-19) against Saint Anselm College on Friday at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. The Northeast 10 Conference teams played a non-league affair.

THE ACTION
  • Back-to-back Lacerda kills extended the Hawks' first-set lead to 11-4 before Tower's solo block later cut the deficit to 19-17, but the hosts netted six of the final seven points.
  • Ryan dropped an ace to provide Saint Anselm a 19-14 edge in the second set before Patterson's kill rallied Saint Michael's within 23-22. Elward followed with a kill and Frano with the clinching ace.
  • The hosts led 7-2 early in set No. 3, but aces by Patterson and Tower keyed a go-ahead 8-2 stretch. With Saint Anselm clinging to an 18-17 edge after Tower's kill, Frano had three kills as the Hawks scored four of the next five points to take control.
