GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Senior
Muntasir Ahmed (Portland, Maine/Bridgton Academy/West Virginia Wesleyan) scored in the third and 88th minutes to send the Saint Michael's College men's soccer team past Adelphi University, 2-0, on Saturday in a meeting of regionally-ranked Northeast 10 Conference squads at Motamed Field. The Purple Knights were 10th in this week's United Soccer Coaches East Region poll and the Panthers seventh.

THE ACTION
- In the third minute, senior Xolo Miralles (Vinaròs, Spain/IES Leopoldo Querol/Otero) headed an Adelphi clearing attempt further into the box, where it deflected off of a Panther and to the foot of Ahmed, who one-touched a lefty strike to the top left corner.
- Smith made three saves in each half, including on consecutive corner kick sets in the 53rd and 54th minutes.
- In the 67th minute, Smith denied graduate student Rory Duggan, and sophomore Ryan Holt pushed the rebound over the net.
- The Purple Knights padded their lead in the 88th minute. Penin's through ball found Andrews, who dropped a pass for Ahmed, who ran on for the lefty finish into the far side of the net.
