MANSFIELD, Pa. - Saint Michael's College field hockey senior goalkeeper
Joelle Cameron (West Bridgewater, Mass./West Bridgewater) tied an NCAA Division II record with 45 saves on Sunday against No. 1 Kutztown University during Mansfield University's Dr. Art DeGenaro Classic at Karl Van Norman Field. The Purple Knights lost to the Golden Bears, last year's national runner-up and the 2023 national champ, 9-0. Kutztown's national ranking is according to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).

- Cameron surpassed Franklin Pierce University's Irene Smith's Northeast 10 Conference record of 41 stops set on Sept. 23, 2001.
- The prior Saint Michael's record for saves was 35 by Nancy Raymond '82 on Sept. 15, 1981. Raymond also set the mark for saves in a half that day with 19; Cameron posted 19 in the first 30 minutes on Sunday and another 26 over the final half.
- Cameron's 45 saves tie her for 10th in NCAA field hockey history, across all three divisions.
THE ACTION
- After Cameron had already racked up three of her 14 first-quarter saves, Gonzalez scored 3:37 into the contest for the game-winner. Rice tallied at 8:02, and the Golden Bears netted two more 24 seconds apart later in the stanza.
- The 4-0 score stood at halftime thanks to Cameron making five stops in a shutout second quarter and Hershey adding a defensive save.
- Cameron posted 17 more saves in the third stanza and nine in the fourth.
