GAME FACTS

  • The Purple Knights have allowed two goals or less 13 times in 18 games this season.
THE ACTION
  • Mack netted the only goal of the first period with 10:45 gone, sending home a one-timer from the slot off of Wishart's pass off the right boards.
  • Junior Ben Baxter (Hyannis, Mass./Seahawks Hockey Club) had the best chance for either team in a scoreless second period, getting turned away on a breakaway bid at 14:28.
  • Shortly after Plunkett denied Mack out front during a Middlebury power play with 3:23 gone in the third period, McCarthy netted the tying shorthanded strike at the other end, stripping a Panther of the puck outside the blue line before going in alone on Sullivan and finishing five-hole at 4:16.
  • Plunkett made a handful of big stops down the stretch, including stopping a power-play shot with his mask at 9:47, moving post-to-post to reject a try at 10:30, and recording a trio of stops during a flurry that concluded at 18:35.
  • In overtime, Wishart won the opening draw and Middlebury possessed throughout. Plunkett stopped Mack on an early shot before May later took possession in his own end, drove the middle of the ice, and split a pair of Purple Knights before taking an initial shot that was stopped but pushing in the rebound with 32 seconds gone.
