CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine - A trio of Saint Michael's College Alpine skiers cracked the top 20 on Saturday during the Colby College Carnival giant slalom at Sugarloaf Mountain. The Purple Knight women placed fifth as a team in the event.
 
CARNIVAL FACTS

• The women's Alpine squad finished fifth in Saturday's giant slalom with 64 points, trimming sixth-place University of Vermont by seven. The men took seventh (48), within two points of sixth-place Harvard University.
• The Alpine skiing teams combined to score seventh-place points during the GS (112), just four points short of sixth-place Bates College.
• For the carnival, Saint Michael's Alpine skiing rattled off 191.5 points to stand ninth among 13 schools, narrowly behind Bates (192) and Williams College (193). Nordic skiing concludes the carnival next weekend.
