THE ACTION
  • The Purple Knights took the lead just 1:19 into the contest. After junior defender Ben Nichols (Andover, Mass./Curry College) pinned the puck carrier to the boards near the blue line, Baxter and McCarthy worked a 2-on-1 for the rest of the ice, with McCarthy finishing from the right circle.
  • Bloom's power-play slap shot from the left circle with 16:02 gone made it 2-0. Allain fed him for a one-timer, while sophomore Cole Douglas (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) also assisted.
  • Manahan made the lead stand up early in the second frame, first denying first-year Mason Rudrud's one-timer out front with 5:15 gone before making four saves during a 13-second flurry around the seven-minute mark to help kill a Rivier power play.
  • McCarthy added to the lead at 17:10, one-timing Baxter's cross-ice pass from the right corner past Meyer from below the left hash mark. Tuite also assisted.
  • Lincourt one-timed home Wracker's drop pass into the slot from behind the net 3:18 into the third period, with Allain adding a secondary helper, before Naumann took a giveaway in the right circle and scored alone on Meyer 56 seconds later.
  • Forselius redirected first-year Colin Walsh's (East Greenwich, R.I./Saint George's School) pass into the slot from the left boards at 12:05, pushing the lead to 6-0.
  • Sawicki scored only 12 seconds later, spoiling Manahan's shutout by tipping senior Ryan Cardow's pass from the right point.
  • After Manahan made a brilliant glove save at 15:01 to help salt away Rivier's two-man power-play advantage, Caparco roofed a shot from in close to cap the scoring at 18:43.
