LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - A trio of Saint Michael's College Nordic skiing student-athletes cracked the top 30 during day one of the Saint Lawrence University Carnival on Sunday at Mount Van Hoevenberg. The Purple Knights competed in their initial carnival event under first-year head coach Annika Martell.
 
CARNIVAL FACTS

• With 109 points, Nordic skiing stands seventh among 11 schools following the opening day of the carnival, trimming Williams College by three points.
• Nordic events at the Saint Lawrence Carnival conclude on Tuesday, while the Alpine segment will take place on Jan. 22-23 at Whiteface Mountain.
• Sunday's races were part of the U.S. Cross Country National Championships, which drew nearly 700 athletes.
