  • The hosts held leads in shots (24-8) and corner kicks (13-0).
THE ACTION
  • Torres made three saves during the first half, and Brannigan took care of the scoring. In the 29th minute, Blay sent a left-footed cross through the top of the box for Brannigan, who one-touched his tally over Zweben.
  • After holding a 6-5 edge in shots in the opening stanza, Pace garnered an 18-3 lead in the second period but could not solve the Purple Knight defense, led by Torres' five stops.
  • In the 87th minute, Torres dove toward the right post to stop redshirt first-year Acland Zhang's bid. The netminder slid through the box in the 88th minute to cover a dangerous lead pass before Pace's final shot in the 89th minute sailed wide.
