DeBaggis' Five-Point Day Sends Field Hockey Past Franklin Pierce, 3-2

COLCHESTER, Vt. - First-year Kira DeBaggis (Mendon, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) tallied two goals and an assist to send the Saint Michael's College field hockey team past Franklin Pierce University, 3-2, on Tuesday during Northeast 10 Conference play at Duffy Field.

GAME FACTS
  • Carla Hesler picked up the 375th head coaching win in her career guiding field hockey and lacrosse teams at the NCAA Division I and II levels.
  • Foecking became the 15th Purple Knight goalkeeper to reach 100 saves in a season (105), but just the third to do so in her first season of college action, joining Abigail Bowie '17 and Riley O'Connor '25. Foecking did not see any time behind All-American Joelle Cameron '26 last fall.
  • The Purple Knights downed the Ravens for the first time since Sept. 27, 2022, and for the initial time on Duffy Field since Sept. 14, 2021.
  • Saint Michael's knocked off Franklin Pierce after losing 6-0 in their first meeting this season on Sept. 9.
  • Franklin Pierce leads of 21-12 in shots and 10-5 on penalty corners, but Saint Michael's scored on three of its corner plays.
THE ACTION
  • DeBaggis put the Purple Knights ahead in the 12th minute, grabbing her own rebound after Cooper made a defensive save of her initial shot and tucking a shot home with Noorlag still out of position.
  • Chaisson tied the game in the 14th minute by blasting a shot from the edge of the circle just inside the left post.
  • Harrington put the hosts ahead again in the 26th minute, tipping DeBaggis' drive from the edge of the circle while out in front of Noorlag.
  • Late in the 56th minute, DeBaggis staked Saint Michael's to a 3-1 lead with another hard shot from the perimeter following Hershey's corner insert pass.
  • Wanders halved the deficit just 52 seconds later, tipping first-year Jocelyn Valleau's pass into the circle. That proved to be the final shot for either team.
