Women's Ice Hockey Loses 6-4 Affair at NEWHA Foe Stonehill

Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team opened a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEHWA) weekend with a 6-4 loss to Stonehill College on Friday at Bridgewater Ice Arena.

GAME FACTS

Jerylo appeared in her 100th career game.
Lavender moved into 21st in NCAA National Collegiate (Division I/II) women's ice hockey history in career saves (3,262), passing Terri Lanteigne of Rochester Institute of Technology (3,254).
Both teams took 31 shots, while the Purple Knights blocked 14 bids.

THE ACTION

Combe sent in a shot from between the circles with 5:18 gone in the first period before Achtyl redirected Palsa's pass out front to make it 2-0 at 11:33 on a power play.
The Purple Knights quickly countered. After Boychuk sent a stretch pass to spring Jarvis behind the defense, an initial shot was saved, but Jerylo crashed the net to score at 12:03, just 30 seconds after Stonehill's second tally.
Late in the frame, McDonald tipped in Hetman's pass from the slot to knot the contest with 18 seconds to go.
Palsa (7:13) and Achtyl (8:14) scored 61 seconds apart during the second period to spark a three-goal spurt, which Mullin capped by picking Dans' glove corner from out front at 12:17.
Jarvis trimmed the deficit with 16:13 gone on another power play, taking the middle of the ice from her own end before slipping in a shot from the right circle. Hetman assisted.
Mullin got the goal back with 12 seconds left, finishing out front.
Weatherred struck for another goal 6:20 into the third period, tapping in Gerebi's backhanded pass off the boards out to net front. Hartnell also assisted.
With the Purple Knights at the beginning of a power play, they pulled Lavender with 3:11 to go, but all three shots the visitors put on net down the stretch were saved by Caron.
