Simon Lundholm (Le Luc, France/CNED) registered the clinching singles win to lift the Saint Michael's College men's tennis team past Union (N.Y.) College, 4-3, on Friday at Sportime Capital Region. It was the Purple Knights' second 4-3 victory in three outings.

THE ACTION
- The Purple Knights took a 1-0 lead behind capturing the doubles point. After Lin and van den Broek opened play with a 6-1 win at No. 3 to move to 3-1 this year, Union followed suit in the top spot. Lundholm and Macpherson claimed the clinching 6-4 victory in the second position, upping their season mark to 5-3.
- Junior Viktor Boban (Zagreb, Croatia/Franjo Bucar/Frostburg State) lost a 7-5 opening set during a straight-set loss at No. 2 singles before Brooker claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3 and van den Broek made it 3-1 by rallying for a 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 win in the first slot.
- Macpherson suffered a close 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 loss in the fourth spot, but Lundholm moved to 7-2 this year by virtue of a 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 12-10 comeback victory at No. 5 for his team's clinching fourth point.
- First-year Ferm Koppelmans (Veghel, The Netherlands/Udens College) capped action with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 setback at No. 6.
