Five Purple Knights Win Twice in Women's Tennis' Sweep of Daemen

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Five players won twice apiece as the Saint Michael's College women's tennis team swept Daemen University, 7-0, on Saturday in the Tarrant Recreation Center.

THE ACTION
  • The Purple Knights lost only six points during a sweep of doubles. McPherson and Xu claimed a 6-1 win at No. 1, Larsen and Ricaurte clinched the 1-0 lead with a 6-3 victory in the second spot, and the tandem of Aldrete/Gredenhag took a 6-2 decision at No. 3. Larsen and Ricaurte won the for the team-best eighth time this year, while McPherson and Xu are now 4-1.
  • Larsen dropped only one point in a win at No. 2 singles while moving to 12-4, Xu blanked her foe in the fourth spot, and Gredenhag picked up the clinching fourth point with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3.
  • McPherson won 6-2, 6-2 in the top position, Ricaurte earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 5, and Rocha won all but two points in a straight-set triumph in the sixth slot.
