COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's tennis team defeated regional Division III power Colby-Sawyer College, 5-2, for the second time this season on Wednesday in the Tarrant Recreation Center. The Chargers qualified for the past 11 NCAA Division III Tournaments.

THE ACTION

• The Purple Knights lost the opening doubles point. Junior Jaylin Bedard (Fairfield, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) and sophomore Kasey Johnson (Naples, Maine/Lake Region) sided for just the second time during a 6-3 loss at No. 3 before Aldrete and Gredenhag won by the same count in the second spot.
• Larsen and Ricaurte, the Purple Knights' regular No. 2 tandem, moved to No. 1 for the first time but lost a 6-3 decision.
• Saint Michael's captured the first four completed singles matches to clinch the team win. Aldrete blanked her foe at No. 4, and Larsen won a 6-0, 6-2 contest in her debut in the top spot to improve to 13-4. Xu earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 for her first win playing that high this season, and her 10th of the school year, and Ricaurte did not drop a game in a triumph at No. 5.
• Gredenhag was defeated 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 in the second spot, but Rocha moved to 5-2 this season by virtue of a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 6.
