No. 8 Women's Ice Hockey Eliminated From Postseason by No. 1 Franklin Pierce

WINCHENDON, Mass. - The eighth-seeded Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team saw its season end with a 5-1 loss to No. 1 Franklin Pierce University on Saturday during game two of a best-of-three New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Tournament quarterfinal series at The Winchendon School's Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.

GAME FACTS
  • With 3,392 career saves, Lavender finished her career 17th in NCAA National Collegiate (Division I/II) women's ice hockey history, passing Northeastern University's Aerin Frankel (3,349), who won an Olympic gold medal for Team USA last week. Lavender will also graduate with a school record for goalie minutes (4,740:24). Lavender's 1,112 saves this season were short only of her school-record 1,171 set in 2023-24.
  • Gerebi capped her career with a school-record 135 appearances, and senior Emersynn McGillis (Ottawa, Ontario/Nepean Jr. Wildcats) is second at 132.
THE ACTION
  • The Purple Knights struck early, with Gerebi winning a draw clean back to the blue line for Quinn, who lofted a high shot just under the crossbar with 3:32 gone in the opening period.
  • Broz knotted the game just 1:44 later, sending a shot through a screen on the power play. Lavender stopped another 17 shots sent her way during the frame to keep the teams tied.
  • Andre put the Ravens in front at 4:13 of the second period, poking in a rebound, and Broz picked a corner from the left circle during a power play 3:30 later.
  • Rich padded the lead at 2:27 of the third, tipping in a shot from the right circle.
  • Murphy scored on an empty net at 16:35 to add to the advantage.
