Women's Lacrosse Clipped by Georgian Court, 13-12

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse team's final-minute comeback fell short during a 13-12 loss to Georgian Court University on Thursday at the GCU Track & Field Complex.

GAME FACTS
  • Two of the Purple Knights' losses have come by a single goal.
  • Since complete draw control records became available in 2000, Hamilton is the third Purple Knight with multiple career games of double-digit draw controls. She joins SMC Athletic Hall of Famer Amanda Soule '08 (4) and Hope Alto '23 (2) after also corralling 10 draws against American International College last April 19. Hamilton is sixth in program history in career draw controls (112), passing Kimberly Ryan '01 (104).
THE ACTION
  • Hamilton registered a goal and an assist to stake Saint Michael's to a 3-1 lead by the time 4:41 remained in the first quarter.
  • Battle's strike at 3:19 brought the Lions within one, but the Purple Knights scored three woman-up goals in a 4-0 response, leading 7-2 on Adams' player-advantage marker at 9:47 of the second stanza.
  • Sullivan's goal at 5:21 still had her team up five, at 8-3, before Georgian Court scored three times in a 1:36 span to slice into its deficit by halftime.
  • Conover tallied 57 seconds into the second half to make it 9-6, but the Lions responded with seven of the next eight goals, including snapping a 10-10 tie with three straight woman-up goals during a 4:46 stretch in the fourth quarter. Scirrotto's goal at 2:54 had her team up 13-10.
  • In the final minute, Conover potted a free-position goal with 21 seconds to go before Hamilton won the ensuing draw and finished a solo effort with another goal with 10 ticks remaining. Conover won the ensuing draw, but junior Addison Rivera forced a turnover in the midfield before winding down the clock.
