Marold Earns Third College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Award

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's basketball senior Nolan Marold (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Brewster Academy/Loyola Chicago) earned a College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division II Academic All-District accolade on Tuesday, landing the recognition for the third straight year. He was among eight Northeast 10 Conference student-athletes honored.

Marold, a business administration major carrying a 3.86 cumulative grade-point average, was key to the Purple Knights qualifying for two NCAA Tournaments the past three seasons. He averaged 6.1 points on 54.9% shooting with 3.9 rebounds, 36 assists, 24 blocks and 23 steals as a senior, finishing his career fifth in program history in career field goal percentage (55.2%) and eighth in blocks (91). Also the NE10 Elite 24 Award winner, Marold averaged 8.0 points and 5.9 rebounds in 95 games, all starts, totaling 764 points and 558 rebounds over three years. As a first-year transfer in 2023-24, he was named to the NCAA East Regional Championship All-Tournament Team after helping Saint Michael's win the NE10 regular-season title and claim the No. 1 seed for the NCAA regional. This award is his 12th career national or conference academic laurel.

College Sports Communicators recognizes major contributors toting at least a 3.50 GPA by their sophomore seasons. Each school was able to put a maximum number of student-athletes forward for an award that previously necessitated voting. Instead, All-District honorees can now advance directly to the Academic All-America ballot, which still incorporates national membership voting. Through the Academic All-America program, CSC names Academic All-District and Academic All-America teams at each the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III levels, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
