Men's Lacrosse Pushes Record to 4-0 with Victory Over D'Youville

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team forged its second straight program-record 4-0 start by virtue of a 17-5 victory over D'Youville University on Sunday at Duffy Field. The Purple Knights were fifth in this week's New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) poll.

GAME FACTS
  • Gulachenski earned his first college win in his first career start. By dishing an assist, he joined senior goalie Mike Nelson (Worcester, Mass./Auburn) in both handing out helpers this season. Entering the day, Gulachenski had seen one minute and 55 seconds of action during his career, all in one game last year.
THE ACTION
  • In a 1-1 game, Sean Murphy (7:57) and Wiercinski (7:23) scored 34 seconds apart midway through the first quarter to spark a 6-0 run. Davis scored twice in that stretch.
  • D'Youville used a 3-2 run to pull within 9-4 at 10:21 of the third on Evan's goal, but four different Purple Knights tallied during a 4-0 response, kicking off a game-ending 8-1 run.
  • Midway through the fourth quarter, Gulachenski scooped his team's fourth ground ball during one clearance sequence before lobbing a pass 30 yards downfield for O'Donnell, who carried through the middle of the defense and straight to net at 6:16.
