No. 20 Men's Lacrosse Loses at No. 2 Saint Anselm, 13-11

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The 20th-ranked Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse team put together its second straight strong showing against a top-six outfit on Wednesday during a 13-11 loss against No. 2 Saint Anselm College at Grappone Stadium. The Northeast 10 Conference counterparts' rankings were according to this week's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) national poll.

  • The Purple Knights played their third consecutive contest against a ranked team that was decided by two goals or less, having downed No. 17 Southern New Hampshire University, 11-10, on March 21 before losing just 6-5 against No. 6 Pace University on Saturday.
  • The contest featured a match-up between two of the top three faceoff men in Division II, as Gannon entered the day leading the nation in faceoff winning percentage and Poirier was third.
  • Saint Michael's did not fail a clear in 24 attempts.
THE ACTION
  • Boyle scored 42 seconds into the game to give his team the lead for good en route to the Hawks leading 7-2 by 12:23 of the second stanza.
  • Sean Murphy scored twice during a 5-1 counter, including as Saint Michael's tallied four straight goals to cut the deficit to 8-7 on Peraza's strike at 11:08 of the third period.
  • Four Hawks scored once apiece in a 4-0 response, with senior Chris Claflin putting Saint Anselm up 12-7 at 12:34 of the fourth quarter.
