Men's Tennis Falls at Southern New Hampshire

HOOKSETT, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team lost to Northeast 10 Conference foe Southern New Hampshire University, 6-1, on Saturday at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.

  • Lundholm moved to 11-2 in singles play, tying for seventh in program history in season victories. He is two shy of a school mark shared by three players.
THE ACTION
  • The Penmen nabbed the opening point by sweeping doubles, but only after juniors Viktor Boban (Zagreb, Croatia/Franjo Bucar/Frostburg State) and Garrett Brooker (Charleston, S.C./Oceanside Collegiate Academy) lost in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (8-6), at No. 1.
  • Sophomore Richard Lin (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) and first-year Ferm Koppelmans (Veghel, The Netherlands/Udens College) suffered a 6-3 setback in the third spot.
  • Lundholm began singles play by winning via retirement in the fourth spot. He lost his opening set, 6-4, before leading 4-2 in the second at the time of the abrupt conclusion.
  • In a 1-1 match, the hosts took the final five decisions, with two coming in three sets.
  • Brooker lost to the seventh-ranked player in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region poll, 1-6, 6-4, 10-6, in the top spot, and Lin lost a 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 contest at No. 6.
  • Boban was downed 6-1, 7-6 (7-1) in the second position, sophomore Jamie Macpherson (Durham, United Kingdom/Framwellgate School Durham) fell 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3, and Koppelmans lost 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5.
