  • Saint Michael's avenged a 6-1 loss to the Greyhounds on Oct. 4.
  • The Purple and Gold picked up only their second home win in their last 12 tries against Assumption since the late 1990s.
THE ACTION
  • Assumption captured the opening doubles point, as the tandem of Koppelmans and Lin lost 6-3 at No. 3 before Macpherson and senior Simon Lundholm (Le Luc, France/CNED) were downed in the second spot, 6-4.
  • At No. 1, Boban and Brooker took a 7-6 (7-4) decision from the fourth-ranked duo in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region rankings.
  • Brooker began singles action by defeating Assumption's No. 1 player, who was ninth in this week's ITA East Region poll, 6-2, 6-0. That defeat matched the Greyhound's most one-sided loss in 85 career singles contests, as Brooker claimed his 10th win of the year.
  • Macpherson put his team ahead with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3 against a foe who had won 6-4, 6-2 in their last match-up before Boban suffered a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 setback in the second spot. Lundholm lost 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 at No. 4, giving the Greyhounds a 3-2 edge.
  • Koppelmans tied the match by virtue of a 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 win in the fifth position, besting an opponent who had defeated him in a third-set super tiebreaker in their last meeting.
  • With the match down to the decision on court six, Lin lost his opening set, 6-4, before capturing a 6-3 second set to force a deciding frame. By the time Lin led 4-3 in the third set, each of the first seven games had been determined by broken service, but he held service at love to go up 5-3. Down 30-0, Lin was ahead 40-30 before winning on his second match point, breaking for a fourth time in the set at deuce. His final line was a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 triumph over a player who had only appeared at No. 4 and 5 this season.
