HOOKSETT, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College women's tennis team lost to Southern New Hampshire University, 5-2, on Saturday during Northeast 10 Conference action at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.

THE ACTION

• McPherson and Xu had the closest doubles decision for the Purple Knights, as the Penmen swept all three matches, losing just 6-4 against a tandem ranked 49th in the nation in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) standings and seventh in the East Region.
• Southern New Hampshire took the opening three singles matches to clinch the victory, including as sophomore Katie Rocha (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) lost a pair of 6-4 sets in the sixth spot.
• Xu picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 before first-year Olivia Larsen (Riverview, New Brunswick/Riverview) fell by a 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 10-8 count in the second position.
• McPherson closed the match by knocking off the region's 20th-ranked player, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 1.
