COLCHESTER, Vt. - Senior
CJ Davidson (Canyon Lake, Calif./Vista Murrieta) spun a one-hit shutout and cracked the go-ahead home run to send the Saint Michael's College softball team past regionally-ranked Adelphi University, 2-0, during the nightcap of a Northeast 10 Conference doubleheader on Saturday at Doc Jacobs Field. The Panthers took the opener, 9-6 in eight innings, and were considered for the first NCAA East Region poll.

THE ACTION
- Parente tripled home a pair in the second inning before scoring on Priest's two-out double, and Wagner's RBI groundout extended the lead to 4-0 in the third.
- Saint Michael's did not get its first base runner off of senior starter Jenna Plue until Bull walked with one out in the fourth, and Liimatainen's two-out RBI double in the fifth was the hosts' first hit.
- Smith tripled in a pair in the sixth before Nordahl's two-out RBI infield single tied the game.
- Wagner came through with a two-out, two-run single in the seventh, but Davidson knocked an RBI double in the home half before Edgerly raced home with the tying run on Smith's groundout.
- Tarjan (double) and Klepper (single) started a three-run eighth with run-scoring hits, and Saint Michael's brought the tying run to the plate in the home half before that batter was retired on a grounder to the circle.

THE ACTION
- Smith's ground-rule double with two out in the bottom of the first inning was the only hit for either team until Davidson launched a solo home run off the foul pole in left field with two out in the third for the game's first run.
- Priest's clean single up the middle to begin the fourth accounted for the first base runner off of Davidson before she was stranded at third. Another Panther was left at second in the fifth inning.
- Nordahl tripled to right center with one out in the sixth before Liimatainen's flare single into left field scored her to make it 2-0.
- Tarjan, Wagner and Comer all walked in the seventh to put the tying run in scoring position, but shortstop Nordahl leaped to snare a line drive for the final out to finish off the victory.
