Softball Swept by 19th-Ranked Franklin Pierce

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College softball team capped its home slate by losing twice to No. 19 Franklin Pierce University, 4-1 and 6-0, during Northeast 10 Conference play on Tuesday at Doc Jacobs Field. The Ravens' national ranking is according to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), and they were also considered for the initial NCAA East Region rankings last week.

  • Senior Brooke Edgerly (Morley, Mich./Morley Stanwood) moved into a tie with SMC Athletic Hall of Famer Noelle Gill '05 for seventh in program history in season hits (44), within two of Meg O'Connor's '09 18-year-old mark for hits by a lefty.
  • Senior CJ Davidson (Canyon Lake, Calif./Vista Murrieta) tied Gill for sixth in program history in career hits (120) while matching Torie Rathwell '20 for sixth in complete games (34).

  • Ott scored the game's opening run on a second-inning error before Mia Keenan's two-out infield RBI single made it 2-0 later in the frame.
  • Liimatainen launched a two-out solo home run in the bottom half.
  • Arreguin scored an unearned run on a groundout in the fifth before Ott walked with the bases loaded to force home Arreguin in the sixth.
  • Liimatainen singled with one out in the seventh, but the tying run never came to the plate, as the final two batters were retired.

  • Ott's groundout and sophomore Zoey Galindo's single plated runs in a two-run first inning.
  • Ott came through with a two-run single in the third before scoring an unearned run to make it 5-0.
  • Van Valkenburgh added a sixth-inning sac fly.
  • Davidson's two-out walk in the fourth inning accounted for her team's lone base runner in the opening six frames before Nordahl's clean single up the middle leading off the seventh was the first hit off of Clough. Smith singled one out later to left center, but the final two hitters went down on strikes.
