Women's Tennis Loses 4-3 Decision to NE10 Foe Franklin Pierce

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College women's tennis team lost to Franklin Pierce University, 4-3, on Thursday during Northeast 10 Conference play in the Tarrant Recreation Center.

THE ACTION
  • Franklin Pierce swept doubles, but only after junior Jaylin Bedard (Fairfield, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) and sophomore Annabelle Aldrete (Wichita, Kan./Andover eCademy) lost 6-3 at No. 3 and the duo of McPherson/Xu fell by a 6-4 count in the top spot.
  • Xu leveled the teams with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles before junior Emma Gredenhag (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny) lost by the same count in the third spot.
  • Larsen again tied the match by virtue of a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 2 before the Ravens won in the sixth position.
  • McPherson rallied past the 16th-ranked player in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region standings, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), at No. 1 to create a 3-3 tie.
  • With the match down to the result on the No. 5 court, Aldrete narrowly lost her opening set before ultimately being defeated, 7-5, 6-2.
