Women's Volleyball Loses Season Opener at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College women's volleyball team opened the season with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-19) loss to Saint Anselm College on Thursday in Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. The Northeast 10 Conference foes met for a non-league match.

MATCH FACTS
  • LaFrenier made her Saint Michael's debut after transferring from Adelphi University, the No. 2 seed in last year's NCAA East Regional Championship.
  • Crowley appeared in her first college match after losing the 2025 season to injury.
THE ACTION
  • A trio of LaFrenier kills helped the Purple Knights trail only 9-8 in the opening set before O'Connell's ace and kill helped kick off a 9-1 run that helped the Hawks pull away.
  • Schulze dropped a kill to put Saint Michael's ahead 5-4 in the second set, but nine of the next 10 points went to the hosts, including four on Lacerda kills. The margin never closed to less than six points from there.
  • Saint Anselm scored the first seven points of set No. 3 and led 9-1 before the Purple and Gold rallied within three on three occasions late in the stanza, for the final time on LaFrenier's kill that made it 20-17. The Hawks responded with consecutive kills and never again led by fewer than four points.
