COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College field hockey team lost to Southern New Hampshire University, 3-0, on Wednesday evening at Duffy Field. The Northeast 10 Conference counterparts squared off for a non-league affair.

THE ACTION
- Foecking made eight first-half saves, including six in the opening stanza, to keep the game scoreless heading into halftime.
- The Purple Knights' best bid in the opening 30 minutes came in the 24th minute, when Waigand denied junior Ruby Harrington's (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) shot during a penalty corner sequence.
- Crocombe put away the game's opening goal in the 37th minute, backhanding a rebound just inside the right post from the middle of the circle.
- A little more than two minutes later, Foecking kept it 1-0 by diving to her right to deny a penalty stroke.
- Late in the 40th minute, Demers doubled the lead, tapping home junior Natalie Paradzick's pass across the goal mouth.
- Sophomore Maddy Wall (Southboro, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) was turned away from out front by Waigand during the 41st minute.
- The Purple Knight defense held firm during the 44th minute, as Foecking rejected senior Abby Forbes' close-range drive before Awayle backhanded away another Forbes shot on an open net for a defensive save, only to move back to her forehand to record another defensive save on first-year Margot Berthier. With Foecking now back in position, Awayle blocked another Berthier bid for the visitors' fourth shot in succession.
- The Penmen added insurance early in the 51st minute. After Demers rung the left post, Garssen and sophomore Sophie Bilodeau combined to push a shot over the goal line from in close, with Garssen being credited with the goal and Bilodeau the helper.
