COLONIE, N.Y. - Three first-half goals propelled the 20th-ranked Saint Michael's College women's soccer team past the College of Staten Island, 3-1, on Wednesday at Afrim's Sports Park. The undefeated Purple Knights' national ranking is according to the United Soccer Coaches, who have them slotted third in the East Region.

- Brookes moved into a tie for ninth in program history in career points (52) with Judy Cronin '06 and a tie for ninth in goals (23) with SMC Athletic Hall of Famer Rachel Hatch '93.
- Laizer picked up her 20th career win in her 26th start, and remains fourth in program annals in victories.
- Gormley posted her 12th and 13th career assists, tying Rachel Hatch '93 and Sara Pope '04 for eighth in program history. In the process, she passed Jill Kasierski '04 and Devin Camerlengo '05, both of whom had 12.
- The Purple and Gold ran its regular-season unbeaten streak to 13 games (11-0-2). It is now 29-0-5 in non-conference regular-season games since September 2021.
- Saint Michael's improved to 2-0-1 in the all-time series, all since 2023. Each game has been in New York, with the last two played at a neutral site in the Albany area.

THE ACTION
- Saint Michael's broke through in the 15th minute, as Peterson pounced on the rebound after junior Elisa Damori's (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lakeridge) long shot was denied by Zahirna.
- Follansbee doubled the lead with 26:08 gone, tallying off of Gormley's cross from the corner. Senior Bridget Hanley (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) also assisted.
- Junior Sam McDonough (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) took a giveaway in the 31st minute before crossing for the far post and Brookes, who extended the lead to 3-0 during a 2-on-0 breakaway. Gormley initiated the sequence by blocking a clearance pass.
- Thompson got the Dolphins on the board in the 55th minute, sending home a free kick from 40 yards out.
- Saint Michael's went scoreless in the second half while liberally using its bench, as 27 players saw time during the contest.
