Former Olympian Bill Davidson returns to the Saint Michael's field hockey coaching staff for his fifth season as an assistant coach in 2025. In fall 2024, he coached an O-35 USA Field Hockey team during the World Masters Hockey World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa.

Davidson carried 16 years of college head coaching experience at the Division I and III levels upon his arrival at Saint Michael's. In his four seasons at Providence College (1998-2001), the Friars won 30 games while advancing to the 2000 BIG EAST Tournament title game and a 2001 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship semifinal. Between 2002 and 2004, Davidson guided the State University of New York at New Paltz, which posted a 3-2 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) record his final season, tying for second in the league.

After spending the 2005 season at Nichols College, Davidson returned to the Division I level at Siena College, where he coached for five years (2007-11). He assisted the University of Vermont in 2012 before heading both the field hockey and women's lacrosse programs at Daniel Webster College between the 2014-15 and 2016-17 school years.

As a member of the U.S. Men's National field hockey program, Davidson trained with a team that competed in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, as well as the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis, Ind. Davidson was on the USA Field Hockey coaching staff at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., between 1989 and 1999.

Davidson earned a bachelor's degree in sports management from the University of Massachusetts before completing a teaching license in physical and health education at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. While out west, Davidson coached the UC Santa Barbara club field hockey team in 1993 and 1994. He owned the East West Field Hockey Camps, which operated in New England and California, from 1991 until 2011. Since 2016, Davidson has been snowsports director at Bromley Mountain Resort in Peru, Vt.
