As a Sophomore: Appeared in 21 games ... finished third on team among defensemen with six points, all assists ... tallied two assists in 5-3 win over Southern Maine on Nov. 11 and during 6-2 loss to the University of New England on Nov. 12.

As a Freshman: Appeared in 12 games ... collected three goals and one assist ... tallied first career point with a goal in a 9-4 loss to Babson on Jan. 28 ... tallied a goal in a 9-2 win over Southern New Hampshire on Feb. 1 ... scored two points, a goal and an assist, in a 6-3 win at Stonehill on Feb. 15.

Before SMC: Played hockey and lacrosse at the Berkshire School from 2007-09 ... helped lacrosse team win 2008 Class B New England Championship ... before Berkshire, played hockey at Rice Memorial High School from 2004-07 ... spent the 2009-10 season playing for the Bridgewater Bandits of the Eastern Junior Hockey League.

Personal: Samuel Paul Torney ... son of Robert and Sally Torney ... majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing, and minoring in management ... Dean's List qualifier ... father played hockey for the University of Vermont and the Washington Capitals ... older brother Bobby played hockey at Saint Lawrence University and professionally in Belgium ... also has a cousin, Mike, who played hockey professionally and for UVM.
