Leon Lifschutz on the benchA long-time goaltender instructor and local coach, Leon Lifschutz returns for his 12th season as an assistant coach for the Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey team in 2025-26. He rejoined the program in 2023-24 after previously serving a nine-year stint between 2012-13 and 2020-21.

Lifschutz has a wealth of experience in leadership and teaching, including serving as the club sports coordinator/assistant director at the University of Vermont for 13 years and its men's ice hockey club head coach since 2021. He has also been a sports management and leadership adjunct lecturer at UVM since 2010. Lifschutz was head coach of the Burlington High School varsity boys' ice hockey program for four years and holds a Level 4 coaching certification from USA Hockey.

Since 2021, Lifschutz has worked as the goaltending development coordinator for the Vermont Amateur Hockey Association. He co-founded the Northern Vermont Wildcats midget program in 2007, serving as the president and head coach until 2011, and founded Light the Lamp Hockey School and Post2Post VT in 2019. From 2001 to 2006, Lifschutz was the head instructor at Saves Goaltending, where he conducted a variety of training programs for ice hockey goalies.

A former junior hockey player for the Alliston (Ontario) Hornets, Lifschutz completed his bachelor's degree in history at York (Ontario) University in 2005. He went on to earn his master's degrees in secondary education and social studies at D'Youville (N.Y.) University in 2006 and his doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from UVM in 2020.
