Joe Gunn heads into his third season as a Saint Michael's women's volleyball assistant coach in fall 2025.

Gunn has been a postdoctoral associate in evolutionary ecology at the University of Vermont since 2022. A well-published research co-author, he has presented at numerous national and regional symposiums and seminars.

Gunn completed bachelor's degrees in biology and mathematics from William Jewell (Mo.) College in 2015 before earning his doctorate in biological studies at the University of Missouri in fall 2021. He gained leadership experience as an instructor and a laboratory teaching assistant during his time at Mizzou and served as staff adviser to the club men's volleyball team between 2021 and 2022. Gunn was also treasurer of the Mizzou Biology Graduate Student Association and an Admissions Ambassador at William Jewell.
