Fellow freshmen Alexa Coleman (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional) and Crystal King (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) also scored a goal each for the Purple Knights, while junior Sandy Palumbo (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) turned aside 14 shots.
For Converse (1-6), Brooke Bondurant and Lacey Bevilacqua scored three goals apiece, while Brianna Hoffman added two goals and three assists. Lindsey Reuss and Sam Green scored two goals each, and in net, Tabitha Chamblee and Madson Noland each stopped six shots in one half of play.
Saint Michael's scored four unanswered goals in a four-minute span of the first half to take a 5-2 lead 13:19 into the game. Converse closed the period on a 4-1 run to even the score at 6-all at halftime.
After Converse opened the scoring 1:47 into the second half, man-up goals by Siekman and Coleman less than a minute apart gave the Purple Knights their final lead at 8-7 with 24:52 left in regulation. Converse, however, scored the next three goals to open up a 10-8 advantage, and led 13-9 with 17:55 to go before the Purple Knights netted the game's final two goals. Neither team scored in the final 14 minutes of the contest, the game's longest scoreless stretch.
Saint Michael's held a slim 34-33 edge in shots, but Converse was better in ground balls, 49-38, and draw controls, 15-11. Saint Michael's also committed five more turnovers, 31-26.
