CLERMONT, Fla. - On the third day of its Spring Break trip, the Saint Michael's College softball team fell twice on Tuesday at the National Training Center Spring Games, first to 2012 College World Series qualifier Saint Joseph's (Ind.) College, 16-2 in five innings, before slipping against Saint Thomas Aquinas College, 4-2. The Purple and Gold is now 0-6 this spring.

Junior Greer Lemnah (Lyndon Center, Vt./Lyndon Institute) was among five Purple Knights to record a hit in the opener, also walking and scoring, while classmate Amanda Brigante (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) picked up an RBI. Junior Brittany Regis (Monroe, N.H./Saint Johnsbury Academy) had a hit in her only plate appearance and scored, while classmate Laura McCormack (Natick, Mass./Natick) took the loss. Junior Lea Gipson (Bridport, Vt./Middlebury Union) yielded one earned run in three frames of relief.

Junior Kylie Weeks (Kokomo, Ind./Taylor) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for 1-0 Saint Joseph's, which was receiving votes toward this week's National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) national poll, while senior Kristin Paris (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) walked three times and stole four bases. Classmate Sarah Franklin (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) yielded one earned run over five innings for the win.

As the visiting team, Saint Joseph's scored eight runs on two hits in the first inning during a contest that began in slick and rainy conditions. The Pumas were aided by four hit batters and three walks in frame. Lemnah scored on an error in the home half before Brigante drove in Regis, but Saint Joseph's plated six more runs on one hit in the second.

In game two, junior Bethany Falls (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) was 3-for-3 with a run, and Lemnah singled and scored. First-year Danielle DelGreco (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) provided an RBI, and senior Carleen McLaughlin (Branford, Conn./Branford) singled and walked in the contest. First-year Jessica Niles (Chamont, N.Y./General Brown) yielded three runs in 4.2 frames but took the setback.

Sophomore Lauren Navarro (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown North) was 4-for-4 with a run for 3-3 Saint Thomas Aquinas, while classmate Melissa Place (Pomona, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Senior Maura Power (Pearl River, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) allowed one earned run in six innings for the win before first-year Kimberly Nowak (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) tossed a no-hit seventh for the save.

Saint Thomas Aquinas used three RBI singles to break open a scoreless game in the bottom of the fifth before Saint Michael's, which had at least one runner reach in four of the first five frames, plated a pair in the sixth. DelGreco's fielder's choice grounder brought Lemnah home, and Falls scored on a passed ball to make it 3-2. However, Place picked up an insurance RBI in the home half, and the Purple Knights twice brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh before the game ended on a double play.

Saint Michael's breaks from action tomorrow before squaring off with a pair of New York-based foes on Thursday, opposing Queens College at 9 a.m. and Mercy College at 11 a.m.
