GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse team continued a run of five consecutive contests against nationally-ranked teams by losing to No. 2 Adelphi University, 18-1, on Saturday at Motamed Field during Northeast-10 Conference play. The Purple Knights are 6-6 overall and 4-6 in the league, while the Panthers improved to 16-0 and 11-0. Adelphi's ranking is according to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

Junior Kate Boyer (Standish, Maine/Bonny Eagle) scored for Saint Michael's, classmate Julia Murphy (Southboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional) scooped two ground balls while causing one turnover, and junior Sarah Fortin (Dover, N.H./Saint Thomas Aquinas) notched two ground balls. Sophomore Casey Curtin (Waltham, Mass./Ursuline Academy) took the loss after making two stops in 10:53, while first-year Grace Gunning (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) made 10 saves in relief to go along with five ground balls and a caused turnover.

Senior Devan Crimi (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) led Adelphi with five goals and three assists, first-year Kate Beier (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) scored four times, and senior Jordann Dempsey (Sparks, Md./Hereford) made no first-half saves in earning the victory as one of two goalies to appear.

The Panthers scored the first 10 goals of the game before Boyer found the back of the net with her 22nd tally of the year as 26 seconds remained in the opening half. After winning one first-half draw control, the Purple Knights trailed by a 5-4 count in the category during the second stanza, when Adelphi scored eight times.

Saint Michael's returns home to face 13th-ranked Stonehill College on Thursday at 3 p.m.
