THE ACTION

  • The Ravens opened the scoring 3:13 into the first period when junior Matthew Toombs and Morrissey took a 2-on-1 into the Purple Knights' zone and connected on a short pass in front of the crease that Morrissey wristed home into the top right corner.
  • The Purple Knights responded 1:17 later as Olevitz picked up a loose puck along the boards in the neutral zone, danced around a defender, and sniped a shot into the top right corner from the slot.
  • With 16:29 off the clock in the first period and in transition off the penalty kill, Foster carried the puck through the neutral zone and dumped a pass to Flack, who backhanded a shot under Wallace's arm to make it 2-1.
  • 2:50 into the second period the Purple Knights extended the lead to 3-1 on a power-play goal from Ouellette, who snapped a wrist shot from the blue line into the top left corner off a pass from senior Nic Hermary (Coquitlam, British Columbia/Melfort Mustangs).
  • Flack added his second goal of the game at the 5:11 mark, receiving a pass from Olevitz in transition near the blue line and bouncing a pass from the right circle off a Raven defender's skate and between Wallace's legs from the right circle for a power-play goal.
  • Muller tallied the Purple Knights' fifth goal at 10:24 in the second, shoveling in sophomore Paul McAuliffe's (Newton, Mass./Kimball Union Academy) saved initial shot from the slot.
  • The Ravens had a chance six minutes into the third when Nikolopoulos, Toombs, and senior Jack Williams all had a chance on net from right in front, but were each denied by a sprawling Decker.
  • The Purple and Gold made it 6-1 at the 9:27 mark when Mitchell grabbed the puck off a save by Decker, skated the length of the ice and dumped it behind him to D'Antuono, who roofed a shot from the edge of the right circle.
  • Stewart tallied the next goal for the Purple Knights at 12:56, potting a shot bar down over Martin's left shoulder, while D'Antuono registered a short-handed, 5-on-3 goal on a breakaway at the 15:10 mark for the final Purple Knight goal.
