Men's Basketball Returns to Action, Falls in Annual Exhibition at Division I Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's basketball team returned to action for the first time since Feb. 25, 2020, during its annual exhibition game at Division I University of Vermont on Saturday, losing a 105-60 decision in Patrick Gymnasium.

  • Heter knocked down the opener jumper 26 seconds into the contest before Gardner came up with a steal and a bucket to make it 4-0 by 17:49 of the first half.
  • Vermont responded with a 10-1 run before Gardner's jumper cut the deficit to 10-7, and another Gardner basket had Saint Michael's within 12-9 at 14:50.
  • The Catamounts scored 20 of the next 25 points, interrupted only by a Gardner three-pointer and a put-back.
  • Crews knocked down a jumper at 8:25 before burying a three of his own at 7:52, snapping a streak of Gardner scoring 12 consecutive Purple Knight points.
