- Neither team led by three points until O'Dell capped his team's 6-0 run with a lay-up that put Saint Rose up 16-9 at 14:18 of the first half.
- Button, making his first college start, responded with a three-pointer 25 seconds later, and Duniver and Gardner later drilled back-to-back threes to tie the game at 20-20 at the 11-minute mark.
- Three Golden Knights scored during an ensuing 6-0 run, and Anderson's dunk pushed the lead to a half-high 30-22 with 7:30 left.
- Down 39-33 after a pair of O'Dell free throws at 4:22, Saint Michael's tallied the next nine points in a run that bridged halftime. Junior Dario Milojevic (Windsor, Ontario/Herman Academy/Mississippi Valley State) beat the buzzer with a lay-up that sent the visitors into the locker room up 40-39, and Gardner's bucket 27 seconds into the second half extended the lead to three.
- Between McGettigen's three-pointer at 17:19 and Gardner's jumper with 7:26 to go, the teams exchanged nine leads while forging four ties, with Saint Rose nabbing the largest lead in that 9:53 stretch, twice leading by five.
- O'Dell snapped the final tie with consecutive jumpers, pushing the Golden Knights into a 74-70 lead by 4:19, but Crews accounted for the next three points, including knocking down a jumper that brought Saint Michael's within one point with 2:12 to go.
- McGettigen responded with a three 32 seconds later, and the Purple Knights missed their next three shots as Saint Rose built its lead to 81-73 on McGettigen's dunk with 11 seconds to go.
- Oyigbo drained a triple two ticks later, creating a five-point margin, and the Golden Knights split their ensuing two free throw attempts, but the Purple Knights were off the mark on their final shot while attempting to make it a one-possession game.
