THE ACTION
- Neither team led by more than four points until Anderson's three-pointer at 2:12 of the first quarter (13-8), and the teams stood tied at 17 at 9:16 of the second stanza.
- Ladas netted the first six points in a 13-5 run, with Anderson's triple at 6:09 giving the Purple Knights a 30-22 edge.
- Morrison's lay-in cut the lead to 30-29, but first-year Caitlyn Dasaro (Fairfield, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) dropped the last two buckets of the half to give Saint Michael's a five-point lead at the intermission.
- Anderson and MacDonough split scoring duties during a 10-2 run that provided the Purple Knights a 44-33 lead at 4:45 of the third period, and the visitors still led 46-35 on MacDonough's jumper with 2:24 to go.
- O'Shaughnessy buried a trey 21 seconds into the fourth quarter to cap an 8-2 spurt that brought the Cougars within 48-43, but Anderson's three at 8:10 pushed the lead back to eight. The Purple Knights still led 53-47 on Ladas' lay-up at 6:32.
- Caldwell responded with the next 11 points, leading 58-53 on a Dits jumper with 2:21 to go.
- The teams exchanged points down the stretch, with Brophy's two free throws bringing Saint Michael's within 60-57 at 21 seconds, but Dits scored directly off of an inbound play after a Caldwell timeout, and the visitors never had another look at a shot.
