THE ACTION
- Saint Michael's twice led by seven points early in the contest, with Gardner netting nine points by the time his team was up 14-7 at 14:51 of the first period. Button's lay-in kept the Purple Knights in front at 16-9 by 12:23.
- Senior Nicholas Johnson knocked down a jumper just 10 seconds later, and the visitors continued to lead by no more than five points until redshirt first-year Christian Davis knocked down a go-ahead three-pointer at 5:47 (26-24).
- Duniver's put-back at 2:32 put Saint Michael's back up, 29-28, before Washington connected on two free throws with 1:18 left to give the hosts a one-point edge at halftime.
- Hernandez had four points to cap an 11-2 run, creating a 39-31 contest at 16:26 of the second half.
- Saint Michael's countered with a 10-1 stretch, with Gardner scoring six and senior Jason Heter's (Andover, N.J./Newton) bucket at 11:54 putting his team up, 41-40.
