THE ACTION
- The teams played through seven lead changes in the opening 9:14 of the contest, with neither team leading by more than four points in that time. Two buckets by senior Jontai Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes), including a three-pointer on the game's first possession, provided the hosts with three-point leads, while Silva's three-point play at 13:16 had Adelphi up 15-11.
- Crews' three-pointer finished a 5-0 spurt that put Saint Michael's in front 16-15 at 11:30, but Coalmon's four points sparked a 6-2 counter. The Purple and Gold drew even on Gardner's free throw at 7:21 (21-21) before Salter and Coalmon hit threes 43 seconds apart to push the lead to 27-22.
- Silva knocked down a pair of triples during a 17-4 run that extended a one-point edge to a 44-30 advantage early in the second period.
- Duniver hit a three at 19:19 before his steal on the ensuing possession led to a Gardner basket, and the Purple Knights were within 44-35 at 18:44.
