GAME FACTS

  • With today's game being moved up from tomorrow due to inclement weather, and Saint Michael's having played at the University of New Haven yesterday, the Purple Knights played conference games on back-to-back days for the first time in program history, having joined the NE10 in 1987-88.
  • The Purple Knights played their third game in four days.
  • Saint Michael's held a 44-31 rebounding advantage, including 14-7 on the offensive glass.

THE ACTION

  • AIC led 6-2 on sophomore Kayla Robinson's hoop at 6:24 of the first quarter before the Purple Knights countered with a 10-2 run that stretched into the second period, as Kapral put home four points and MacDonough buried two three-pointers, giving her team a 12-8 edge at 9:18.
  • Graduate student Sara Guntin Barreiro's lay-up capped an 8-3 response, pushing the Yellow Jackets into a 16-15 lead at 6:57.
  • Sophomore Makayla Blake (Colonie, N.Y./Colonie Central) knocked down a go-ahead jumper 29 seconds later, kicking off a half-ending 11-2 run. MacDonough netted five points in that time, as the Purple Knights led 26-18 at halftime.
  • AIC scored the first seven points of the third stanza before nabbing a 32-30 edge on Perry's lay-up at 6:01, by which point she had nine points in the quarter. That proved to be the first of five lead changes from then until 2:25.
  • First-year Tia-Marie Martinez knocked down a three to snap a 38-all tie at 59 seconds, followed by a Guntin Barreiro bucket shortly thereafter, but Slaven drained a triple of her own at 31 seconds to keep the visitors within 43-41 going into the final period.
  • Five players produced points as AIC scored the first 14 points of the fourth quarter.
