THE ACTION
- In the seventh minute, Pescina made a move to take space in the midfield before sliding a through ball that helped Manley gain a step on the Hawk defense. Manley completed the play by firing a low shot, which Underhill slightly deflected, into the left corner of the net at 6:21.
- Barrett swatted away a shot by senior Taylor Silverstein in the 16th minute before diving to turn away a shot by graduate student Zach Elliott, who was under duress from first-year back Jacob Leone (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit). Barrett dove to deny Silverstein again in the 19th minute before junior Ethan Northcott's header 30 seconds later rung the crossbar.
- Manley nearly made it 2-0 in the 28th minute but was turned away by Underhill's diving stop.
- Saint Anselm drew even in the 37th minute, with junior Zach Verow saving Silverstein's long pass to the end line and centering for Assantha, who headed the ball home at 36:06.
- The Purple Knights were awarded a free kick from inches beyond the top of the box in the 67th minute, and Schramm curled his kick on the ground around a diving Underhill and inside the right post with 66:53 gone for the eventual game-winner.
- Barrett made a trio of critical stops in the final 10 minutes, including sliding out at the edge of the box to deny senior Jackson Bukunt's one-touch shot off of Assantha's pass in the 81st minute.
- After Underhill dove to stop Schramm's point-blank bid in the 84th minute, Barrett batted away Verow's shot at the right side of the box in the 86th minute before punching clear Elliott's curving free kick from the left side of the box in the 87th minute.
