- Saint Michael's scored a pair of quick goals soon thereafter to take the lead. - Pierson helped negate a Dolphin scoring chance in the 29th minute, catching up in time to harass first-year Cameron Stuart into shooting wide after initially having a breakaway bid.
- In the 73rd minute, graduate student Max Buesch had a step on the defense and, with Barrett charging toward him, missed an open net to the right.
