SAINT MICHAEL'S LEADERS

OPPONENT LEADERS

  • Junior Paige Whaley, 1 goal
  • Sophomore Josie Mendeszoon, 1 goal
  • First-year Lily Barrett, 2 assists
  • Sophomore Hanna Zukow, 12 saves

GAME FACTS

  • The teams met for the first time, with Stonehill a varsity newcomer after a successful club history.
  • The Purple Knights held a 25-16 lead in faceoff victories.

THE ACTION

  • Junior Mary Leys (Newport, R.I./Saint George's School) nearly gave the Purple Knights an early lead but rung the post at 4:29 of the opening period.
  • Both teams killed one penalty over the first 20 minutes, when Mudrak finished with eight saves.
  • Whaley potted what proved to be the game-winner at 4:04 of the second period. After a giveaway along the boards, first-year Bailey Feeney made a centering pass from the right circle, finding Whaley for a tip-in at the left post.
  • The Purple Knights went on a power play at 9:21 of the third period looking to draw even, but the only shots attempted in that time were by Stonehill, with Mudrak turning all three aside.
  • During a Skyhawk power play, Barrett passed from between the circles down low for Mendeszoon, who tipped home an insurance marker at 15:40.
