THE ACTION
- The Cardinals scored a pair of early goals to nab a 2-0 lead, as Araujo tallied from the mid-slot with 4:04 gone in the contest before Bryer put home a loose puck out front 1:33 later.
- Routh halved the deficit by scoring from the inside edge of the left circle at 18:13.
- Butler pushed home a rebound at 2:49 of the second period, but the Purple Knights again crept within a goal when McCarthy went glove side on Shiller from the right circle with 19:12 gone.
- With Manahan pulled and the Purple and Gold on a power play, Schreiner struck for the equalizer at 19:07 of the third period, knocking in senior Nathan Smith's (Wildwood, Mo./New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs) pass from deep in the right corner.
- However, the Cardinals went on a late power play that carried into overtime, and Bonfield one-timed junior Thomas Maia's backdoor pass at 1:45 of the extra session for the winner.
