THE ACTION

  • The Purple Knights went ahead just 2:20 into the contest, as Macdonald dumped a puck in deep and sophomore Ryland Dukes (Nashville, Tenn./Walpole Express) retrieved it behind the Raven net, quickly sending a pass from the boards out toward the left post, where Macdonald finished.
  • Franklin Pierce was the beneficiary of a two-man advantage late in the opening stanza, as Flaherty shot below the right circle to finish the 5-on-3 power play at 19:05.
  • Horan stuffed in a second effort at 9:26 of the second frame, but the Purple Knights answered 1:12 later during a power play. After Schreiner sent a shot from the slot off the boards, the rebound kicked back toward the left post, where Rudicus pushed home the tying marker.
  • The Purple and Gold held a 14-9 lead in third-period shots, but the Ravens did all of the scoring, including as Springer potted the winner at 3:26, going to Manahan's glove side from out front after pouncing on a loose puck.
  • Dobek converted another power-play goal with 11:07 gone, blasting a shot from above the left circle.
  • With Manahan pulled for an extra skater, Franklin Pierce blocked a shot in its own end before Nikolopoulos backhanded the puck from his own slot and down into the vacated Purple Knight net with 46 seconds to go.
