GAME FACTS

  • Lavender made her regular-season college debut, having previously appeared in an exhibition game at NCAA Division III national power the State University of New York at Plattsburgh on Oct. 29, when she made 36 saves in 44:23 of two-goal relief.
  • The Purples garnered a 23-18 lead in faceoff victories while blocking 23 shots.

THE ACTION

  • LIU scored the only goal of the game 2:32 following the opening faceoff. After Lavender denied senior Abby Latorella's shot from the edge of the left circle, the puck flipped into the air, where a Purple Knight defender swatted it down. Campbell charged toward the loose puck and hammered it into the lower right corner of the goal. Lavender turned away the final 39 shots sent her way.
  • Later in the first period, junior Mary Leys (Newport, R.I./Saint George's School) took a giveaway deep in the Shark zone but had a chance stopped by Holm at 6:51. Senior Jordan Lettiere's (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) one-timer from the slot with 10:04 gone was also swallowed up by the goalie.
  • Harrison saw a similar bid stopped 3:44 into the second period, one-timing sophomore Angelina Ruiz's (Independence, Minn./Gentry Academy) pass from behind the net on Holm.
  • Lavender kept it 1-0 with a save on senior Carrigan Umpherville's shorthanded breakaway bid at 7:50.
  • Sophomore Jeannie Wallner had a shot stopped by Lavender at the right post five minutes into the third period before nabbing the rebound and trying a wraparound at the far post, where Kamp blocked the open net.
  • Junior defender Jace Zapata's (Brea, Calif./Gentry Academy) shot from the right point drilled Holm's blocker at the midway point of the period, and Lettiere had another chance at 17:25, picking off a pass in the slot before seeing her tying bid stopped.
  • With two seconds left and a faceoff coming in front of Holm, the Purple Knights pulled their goalie, but they were unable to control the draw and fire off a tying attempt.
