GAME FACTS

THE ACTION
- Schreiner put the Purple Knights ahead just 2:23 into the contest during a power play. Sophomore defenseman David Ciancio's (Scituate, R.I./Seahawks Hockey Club) initial bid from the slot was stopped by Leslie's blocker, but the rebound hit Gagnon and flew back toward the right post, where Schreiner banged in the tally.
- Junior Quinton Fox countered with a power-play marker of his own at 10:20, scoring from outside the right post. However, McCarthy put Saint Michael's back in front just 46 seconds later, sending home the rebound of first-year Jake Lincourt's (Smithfield, R.I./Walpole Express) saved shot.
- Amherst knotted another tying goal with 14:39 gone to finish off an eventful opening period. After Toporowski's first shot was saved, sophomore Bobby Luca passed from behind the net back for Toporowski, who scored from a tough angle along the goal-line extended.
- Sophomore Max Thiessen picked up a loose puck at the blue line and skated in alone on Murphy before finishing to his forehand at 7:25 of the second period for a go-ahead shorthanded marker.
- However, Saint Michael's capped the power play with the tying goal only 35 seconds later. Senior Owen Rudicus (Duxbury, Mass./Tabor Academy) passed out to space high in the left circle, where Taylor skated onto the puck and finished behind Leslie.
- Senior Joey Verkerke struck for the winning power-play goal at 10:57, sending in a wrister from the blue line.
- Murphy kept it a one-goal affair 22 seconds into the third thanks to a nice glove save on Luca's bid from the slot.
- Kuzma scored twice in the frame to put the game out of reach, taking a giveaway in the left circle and going to the netminder's blocker side at 3:41 before one-timing first-year Josh Burke's pass into the slot with a shot to Murphy's glove side at 14:01.
